"Then,
gentlemen, not you will be the ones to deliver the verdict over us, but that
verdict will be given by the eternal judgment of history, which will speak out
against the accusation that has been made against us. I know what your judgment
will be. But that other court will not ask us: Have you committed high treason
or not? That court will judge us, their quartermaster-general of the old army,
its officers and soldiers, who as Germans wanted only the best for their people
and Fatherland, who fought and who were willing to die. You might just as well
find us guilty a thousand times, but the goddess of the eternal court of
history will smile and tear up the motions of the state's attorney and the
judgment of this court: for she finds us not guilty."

The fact that Hitler believed he was doing the best for the German society showed his lack of understanding for humans. I too believe he is proud of his actions and the legacy he will leave behind. Stating that he and his troops will no be found guilty of accusations from the high court judges and that his actions were for the betterment of the German people shows total dilusion.
ReplyDeleteKajal,
ReplyDeleteMost of the men who have similar backgrounds to that of Hitler's are psychotic. They usually try to explain the unexplainable, and when that does not work they try to justify or make sense of their behavior even if their reasoning makes no sense to the average man. This is what happens when power corrupts; when you make yourself the absolute judge and no one can object to your absurd behaviors. This is a lesson for all of us, when people become desperate and lose faith in institutions, values or someone higher than themselves, then things become very dangerous.
